A different video wallpaper on every display
MagicWall plays videos from your own library as desktop wallpapers on macOS — one per screen, behind your icons. No accounts, no telemetry: the only network request is the update check, which you can turn off.

FAQ
Questions, answered
Does MagicWall have to stay open?
Yes. It runs from the menu bar: closing the library window does not quit it, so the wallpaper keeps running. If you quit MagicWall from the menu bar, playback stops and your desktop falls back to the still picture it had before.
Does anything leave my Mac?
No. MagicWall has no accounts and no telemetry. The only network request it makes is the daily update check against the official GitHub releases, and you can turn it off in Settings → About. Videos, posters and the SQLite database stay inside ~/Library/Application Support/MagicWall on your machine.
Is it open source?
Yes — MIT licensed, written in SwiftUI with AVFoundation and GRDB, and the source is on GitHub. Official downloads are signed with a Developer ID, and the app inside is notarized by Apple with the ticket stapled, so it launches without a Gatekeeper prompt.
Can I use a different video on each display?
Yes. Assignments are stored per display, keyed by the screen’s display ID, and restored every time MagicWall starts — a monitor that stays connected resumes the same clip it had before.
Does it drain the battery?
Playback pauses on battery, in Low Power Mode, under thermal pressure, when the screen is locked or the desktop is hidden, and resumes automatically after sleep and wake.
Which video formats work?
MP4, MOV and M4V files import and play through AVFoundation, so H.264 clips work out of the box — and HEVC plays on the Macs that support it. Optional transcoding that shrinks large files is still on the roadmap.
Where does it store my files?
Everything sits in ~/Library/Application Support/MagicWall: magicwall.sqlite, themes.json and the Library/Videos and Library/Posters folders. Delete it and remove the app to uninstall.
